Discipleship that moves, from hearing to doing.

People are formed by doing, together.

Doersteps is a discipleship platform built on a simple conviction: people grow when they practice their faith in relationship, not just when they consume good content. Curriculum, groups, and real accountability, in one place.

Built for churches, campus ministries, and disciple-making communities of every kind. In use at Chi Alpha at Texas State.

Phase 2 · The Spirit

He's Been There

Tempted in every way

He knows the pressure. Not as a theory about people, but as a Tuesday he actually lived.

Where in your week do you most need that to be true?

Doer Step

Unlocks Lesson 7

Ask one person this week what they are actually carrying, and don't try to fix it.

Your leader confirms this before the next lesson opens.

It's easy to consume faith. It's harder to live it.

There's never been more good content, and yet people can consume all of it and still feel stuck. Not because the teaching is bad, but because information was never meant to do the work of formation, and formation was never meant to happen alone.

Where growth actually happens.

Not all time is equal. Consuming alone, watching, scrolling, reading by yourself, is where most of us default. Creating together is where we come alive, and where we're changed. Discipleship works the same way, and every doerstep is built to move people there.

Read the methodology behind it
The consume and create quadrantA grid of four squares. Across the top, alone on the left and together on the right. Down the side, consume on the top row and create on the bottom row. The squares read consume alone, consume together, create alone and create together. An arrow runs from consume alone toward create together: the direction formation moves.ALONETOGETHERCONSUMECREATEConsumealoneConsumetogetherCreatealoneCreatetogether
Consume alone, consume together, create alone, create together. Formation moves toward the last.

Faith you practice, not just finish.

Each lesson can close however you choose, a question, a reflection, or more. And the heart of Doersteps is the doerstep: a real action, confirmed by a real person. You've heard the old pattern, I do, you watch; you do, I watch. That progression is built in, so people don't just learn to lead. They practice it before they're handed the title.

I do, you watch; you do, I watchThree stages from left to right. First, I do, you watch: a step taken alongside a leader. Then, you do, I watch: a step that is your own, confirmed by a person. Last, handed the title: leading others, after it has been practiced.I do,you watchalongside a leaderYou do,I watchyour own stepHandedthe titleleading others

Your leader · Chi Alpha at Texas State

How did Tuesday go? You said you were going to ask Marcus to lunch.

I did! Genuinely terrifying for about four seconds and then it was just lunch.

He asked why I actually believe any of it. I didn't have a tidy answer.

That's a better outcome than a tidy answer. Want to work on that one together before you see him again?

Messages between a pair stay between the pair. Staff can see that a conversation is happening, not what is in it.

The roster surfaces the person nobody is walking with, because that is the one thing a list of names usually hides.

A serve team can require a course before someone runs the desk. So training is discipleship, not a sign-up sheet.

Every group deserves a discipleship track, not just a group chat.

From a first visit to a leadership role, Doersteps holds it together: groups, curriculum, one-on-ones, chat, attendance, and milestones. Whatever path your community uses to grow people, you can build it here, and see who's moving along it.

See who it works for

What is in it

A step is finished when a person says so

A step is something done in the world: a conversation, an invitation, a prayer. When a lesson asks for one, the next lesson waits until a leader confirms it happened. No box to tick, no autograded quiz standing in for formation.

Pairs, not a cohort

Each person is walked with by somebody who knows their name. The pair has its own thread; staff can see that a conversation is happening and never what is in it.

Courses you write, in your words

Write or import a pathway, break it into phases and parts, attach a worksheet, and publish a version. Your campus's vocabulary (doer step, huddle, coach, whatever you call it) replaces ours everywhere it appears.

Serve teams are discipleship too

Sound desk, ProPresenter, kids check-in, parking. A position can require a course before somebody runs it, and the rota asks people rather than assigning them.

Groups, attendance, and a calendar

Ministries and small groups with their own rosters, recurring events, and attendance taken by roster or by headcount, so the census a district asks for is a by-product, not a spreadsheet night.

Roles your campus defines

Student, leader, intern, staff, and any rung between them. What each may do is data, not code, and nobody can grant more than they hold.

Figures travel up, records never do

A campus publishes counts to its district deliberately. Nobody upstream can open a person's record. The platform itself cannot, and there is a test that proves it.

Their own record, theirs to take

One page, one download: the steps they took, who walked with them and who confirmed them. Close an account and it is anonymised after ninety days, with the campus keeping only that the steps happened.

Built for people, including minors

Access is decided in the database, not in a menu, so a screen somebody was not meant to see does not merely stay hidden, it returns nothing. Every campus is sealed from every other campus by the same mechanism.

Anyone can raise a concern about anyone, confidentially, and it escalates on a clock. Who read what is written down. Session recording is switched off, on purpose, because the screens contain what people wrote about their own lives.

Doersteps costs nothing while it is in beta. We are taking a small number of campuses at a time, because the first thing we do with a new one is sit down and build their pathway with them. Leave an address and we will write when there is a slot.

One address, kept for this. No newsletter, no tracking pixels, and nobody else can read the list.
